Abstract

The Alternative Road is an uplifting, informative documentary centring around Byron Bay’s alternate healing practices. The primary focus is interviewing facilitators with the main focus on a self-healing story with a positive conclusion. This allows the viewer to see why natural therapies in the area are gaining momentum. The filming locations include the Temple Byron and the focuses of healing the mind and body through alternative styles they offer. Other locations will include the communal drumming by the beach, Yoga retreats, Spiritual Counselling Centres and other alternative therapy retailers in the area.

Tourists and visitors come to Byron Bay to de-stress, recover, rest, relax, open up to new ideas and learn some alternative ways to finding happiness and inner peace. Exploring different healing and health options help demystify the practice of alternative lifestyles. The location of Byron Bay alone is believed to maximise the effects of the health practices in the region due to its location. Optimal health and well-being has gained momentum, allowing visitors to the area to embrace the health benefits on offer. This uplifting documentary will aim to open the minds of audiences, empower and enlighten them about the advantages of alternative healing.
