Abstract
The project aim was to emulate the timbre, room ambience and mix reminiscent of 1959 Columbia recordings exemplified on the Miles Davis album, Kind Of Blue. The underlying principle employed to achieve this aim was to create a balance of reverb and dry sounds using pure acoustics and mic placement. Other aspects of the recording were digital, such as the use of a Universal Audio Apollo Quad 2 interface for portability reasons, as well as to take advantage of the internal plugin controlled transformers that make the mic pre-amp and, "old school",compression emulations rather convincing. - Creator.
