Abstract
I've always enjoyed thriller horror movies, their effect on the audience, compared to other genres.
This research has informed my understanding of how crucial close ups, tracking shots, handheld and negative spaces are in manipulating the audience; such as evoking a false sense of security.
I have analysed the cinematography of different movies, to better understand the breakdown of the psyche of the character. A good example of this was researching 'Todd Phillips Joker': How the shots reflected different personality traits of Arthur’s character as himself and as the Joker.
All this has informed current research into how to captivate the audience to evoke a genuine reaction.
