Abstract
Julian, a distant man in his 30s, seems to be at the end of his ability to care about anything left in his life including his goldfish, wonders through his day struggling to find any meaning. He clings to a voicemail from a woman who needs him to pick up a present for her daughter, as we quickly understand his relentless nothingness drives him to the breaking point of no return.
Across town, John, an Asian man in his 30s, is struggling to care for his father who has dementia, while meeting all the requirements of his busy full-time job as a lawyer.
Throughout the day, they nearly miss each other as John’s father’s relentless calls, his flighty caregiver and demands of his job push him to the limits. As their struggle leads them to a cliff edge at the same time, what will we learn about their real struggle that drove them there and what will we learn about ourselves along the way.
