Abstract
Tom Whyte’s Brief Moments of Horrifying Clarity is an 8 track No Wave, Noise Pop album composed and produced for the vinyl format, aiming to present a unique listening experience on each side while still maintaining overall cohesion to allow for an equally as enjoyable experience when listening digitally either on mp3 or via a streaming service.
Side A employs popular song structure and formulaic composition methods, often following the intro, verse, chorus, bridge structure while the overall tone, production and lyrical content still remains relatively dark and somewhat lo-fi or experimental.
Side B consists of repetitive, improvised tracks with either minimalistic or incomprehensible lyrics and much more aggressive production. This album hopes to be a faithful homage to Tom Whyte’s influences spanning many genres across avant garde, post and noise subgenres.
Brief Moments of Horrifying Clarity is available on multicoloured splatter vinyl in a limited run of 160 records and will soon be available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and Spotify.
