Abstract
Mouth Is A Cage is a six-track EP that interrogates the experience of being alive in contemporary society, touching on political and economic instability, rapidly shifting social landscapes, diminishing attention spans and increasing corporate influence.
The project exists as a response to the growing presence of artificial intelligence in creative practises, opposing digital-perfection and algorithmically generated art by centring human performance and the beauty of its imperfection.
Sonically, the project features a lush, immersive soundscape through the use of live instrumentation and layered vocal arrangements, embedding the message of resistance within both the composition and production elements.
Through dynamic performance and intentional, human-centred production techniques, the work seeks to create a sense of intimacy and shared experience, offering a “safe space” for listeners to reflect on and navigate the complexities of current times collectively.
