Abstract
Animmix started out of frustration more than anything else. I've been animating in 3ds Max for over a decade, and the timeline often felt clunky next to tools like AnimBot in Maya or MotionBuilder's layer system. This is practice-led research about how I built Animmix, a free animation toolkit for Max, to bring that feeling over. I started simple, making the tools I wanted to use, beginning with a Tween Machine: one slider that blends between two keys and grew into several modes. From there I added tangents, curve-editing tools, a motion trail, an Euler filter, and a recovery tool that brings back lost animation after a crash. Every feature was built to cut clicks. What I learned is that tools should be made with people in mind. Animators shouldn't have to change how they work.
