Abstract
I took Lola from a novel, The Delinquents by Criena Rohan. The Vamp was a belly dance movement I loved; the Vamp was Theda Bara in all her Arab Death. To I Vamp in jazz is to improvise - moments of abandon, of risk, of letting everything fall away except the audience. Abandon is the lifeblood of burlesque.
