Abstract
To develop an incisive eye for learning design and development requires understanding learning experiences from the learner’s perspective. It is therefore useful to take the place of the learner and conduct honest and scholarly critiques of one’s own learning experiences. In this essay, I reflect on two different learning experiences, including their successful facilitation of learning and as aspects that could be improved in order to optimise the participant’s learning. These experiences are examined through the lens of their dominant learning theories: Instructivism and Constructivism.
