Abstract
1,272 people died on Australian roads in 2023 (BITRE, 2024). The Government’s 2021-30 Road Safety Strategy is to reduce the annual count to 571 (Commonwealth of Australia, 2021). No less than 1,000 people have died each year since 1935.
