Abstract

In our unit group, “Big Fungus,” the Wicked Problem we decided to address was the “Protection of Fungal Networks.” After researching into further depth the attributes of the wicked problem, we would then integrate the information into our prototype with our chosen theoretical lens; “Futures Thinking.” This would involve analysing past, present behaviours, theorising the potential future that this could result in, as well as establishing both the feared and desirable future. In order to reach a target demographic, however, we would decide it would be best to direct our prototype towards Primary School Students (aged 10-12), as this would be an age where students begin understanding environmental science with fewer distractions. The prototype itself is essentially a draft Pitch Bible for an animated series; “Invisigarde.” It portrays the wicked problem in a sentient fungi populated, post-apocalyptic world and includes our target demographic as personas in order for the story to feel somewhat grounded and relatable.
